Donations and Volunteering  -  Communication Network

Over the past years IOM mission in Greece has established a communication network with public and private actors, organizations, companies, foundations, NGOs, volunteer teams, in order to better channel the efforts of many Greek actors that are willing to contribute to the wellbeing of migrants and refugees hosted in Greece. This network is a clear example of the very humanitarian spirit of the Greek people that want to participate and contribute in assisting human beings that are coming to their country looking for refuge and assistance. In that context, this this initiative is complementary and does not substitute IOM’s core activities on the field of migration which are currently funded by different donors such as the European Commission, CEB The Social Development Bank of Europe, The Hellenic Ministry of Interior and King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KS relief). Through the establish network, the in-kind donations and voluntary contribution of services are channeled to cover existing gaps within the wider strategy implemented by the Government of Greece to manage the migration flows, increasing cost-effectiveness, efficiency as well as the overall impact on the daily life of migrants and refugees.

The communication network is a reality that has delivered in-kind donations and voluntary contribution of services, worth thousands of euros.

Contributions have been received from Volunteer associations such as A Drop in the Ocean, Chroma, Ayeklauwn Asociación, ECHO Mobile Library, Lighthouse Relief, I AM YOU, Stockton University , private citizens as well as Foundations and NGOs such as Caritas Hellas, Library4all, PAMPIRAIKI, Desmos, Intersport, Admiral, Everyday Refugees Foundation, foodKIND, PYRNA, Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center, Goodwill Caravan, IRC, Olympia international festival, Time to Help Foundation, Hope Humanitarian.
