Temporary Shelter and Protection for the Most Vulnerable Migrants in Greece (FILOXENIA)
Duration: 1 October 2018 – 30 November 2019
Description: Through this action, IOM is aiming to alleviate suffering of vulnerable migrants and refugees residing under lamentable conditions in Reception and Identification Centers (RICs) by urgently providing dignified accommodation as well as basic assistance and protection services in accommodation facilities on the mainland, as part of the Government’s overall emergency planning for the decongestion of the reception facilities on the islands.
- Emergency shelter: Provision of dignified living conditions in temporary accommodation facilities through the activation of 6,000 places in hotels.
- Protection: Core protection services ensuring identification and assistance of the vulnerable population residing in all targeted facilities, providing case management and monitoring (including Child Protection, general protection against violence and abuse), as well as referrals to relevant agencies/ public services as per needs.
- Interpretation: Provision of interpretation services facilitating communication of beneficiaries.
