IOM: 5.328 third-country nationals returned voluntarily to their country of origin with safety and dignity

The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in the context of the program “Assisted Voluntary Returns and Reintegration”, continues to contribute to the safe and voluntary return of third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

Since the beginning of 2016 and up until November 7 of the same year, 5.328 third-country nationals have returned home with safety and dignity, while 6.714 were registered in total during the same period. Since the beginning of the year, out of the 5.328 returnees, 1.193 beneficiaries are from Afghanistan, 1.040 from Morocco, 934 from Iraq, 577 from Iran and 472 from Pakistan.

During October 2016, IOM contributed to the safe return of 488 third-country nationals to their countries of origin.

The program is implemented by IOM Greece in collaboration with the Greek Ministry of Interior, funded 75% by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union (AMIF) and 25% by the Hellenic Ministry of Interior and Administrative Reconstruction.
