IOM and Diplomatic Corps Representatives Information Meeting

Under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs auspices and the framework of the project “The implementation of Assisted Voluntary Returns including Reintegration measures (AVRR)”, an information meeting between representatives of IOM mission in Greece and the Diplomatic Corps in Athens was successfully implemented.
Officers from European and Development Programs Division (E.D.P.D.), the delegated authority of Ministry of Interior, representatives of Hellenic Police and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also present at the meeting.
Aiming at promoting and enhancing a fruitful debate between all implementing partners and exchanging thoughts and concerns regarding AVRR programme, the meeting was also focused on examining the best possible practices regarding the implementation of the project in the best interest of all beneficiaries.
Present at the round table discussion were also representatives of Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Morocco, Georgia, Algeria, Egypt and Tunisia.
From the beginning of the current project, (1st June 2016) until December 2017, 9,098 third country nationals have returned with safety and dignity to their home country, while 2,302 have followed targeted reintegration plans and 623 have received reintegration packages in cash. The top – 5 countries participating in the programme is Pakistan, Georgia, Iraq, Bangladesh and Iran.
The “Implementation of Assisted Voluntary Returns including Reintegration measures” is funded 75% by the Asylum, Migration and Integration Fund of the European Union (AMIF) and 25% by the Hellenic Ministry of Interior.
