IOM, through CEB funding, worked together with municipalities across Greece towards the improvement of services for local and refugee populations
Athens, 16 February 2022
Press Release
IOM, through CEB funding, worked together with municipalities across Greece towards the improvement of services for local and refugee populations
More than 3,500 citizens – amongst them vulnerable populations - have accessed and received healthcare services from the Social Clinic in the Municipality of Katerini, which opened its doors to the public last June.
The Social Clinic was equipped through a project of the Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB) implemented by IOM and provides valuable primary health care services to vulnerable population and people residing in the Municipality of Katerini.
As a result of the excellent collaboration between the Municipal authority of Katerini and the International Organization for Migration, the clinic is able to respond to the needs of the beneficiaries with high level equipment and qualified personnel.
IOM, through the funding of The Council of Europe Development Bank (CEB), supported municipalities across Greece in improving the quality and accessibility of services for local and refugee populations. The reception and integration of migrants have been facilitated by implementing targeted interventions, which included small-scale reconstruction of medical facilities and the purchase of additional equipment for local facilities.
In total, the CEB/IOM REFRAME project joined forces with the HELIOS Integration Project and provided support to the Municipal social care clinic in Katerini, the Homeless Night Shelter and Municipal Social Laundry in Chania, the Shelter for Women victims of GBV, the Homeless Shelter, the Social Solidarity Community Clinic, the Municipal Dental Clinic in Ioannina and the Social care centre of Karditsa.
