NFI distribution to Malakasa & Ritsona camps

2000 NFIs were distributed by IOM Greece to Malakasa (1120 kits)  and Ritsona (880 Kits) camps in Attica on 08.04.2016.  NFI contents dental kit including toothbrush & toothpaste, hand soap, shower gel & shampoo, 2 sanitary rolls, wet/dry wipes.

IOM  hygiene kits were directly stored in the army warehouse where other relief items (water, food) had been stored. According to the Army’s rough estimates in Malakasa, there were 200 tents accommodating 6-8 people each, with the majority of migrants being Afghani families. The camp manager estimates that the breakdown of the population is 350 men, 350 women and 350 children.

IOM Action in Malakasa: To discuss possibility of procurement for items such as floors for tents, fans, solar lamps. Milk in liquid form is needed

Refugees and migrants residing at the camp of Ritsona total 816 according to the official demographics attached, although IOM was informed by the Ministry of Migration Policy that the official statistic stands at 856. The breakdown is as follows: Men: 265, Women: 260 ( 20 pregnant), Children between 1 and 12 years old: 263, Babies up to 12 months old: 28. Most are Syrian families 645, Afghanis 66, Iraqis 101, Iranis 4.  

IOM action:To discuss possibility of procurement for both consumable and non-consumable items:  Floors for tents, fans, solar lamps, mosquito nets, antiseptic products, milk.
