Procurement and delivery of 56.650 NFIs on the islands and in Evros

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in collaboration with the Ministry of Migration Policy and the Reception and Identification Service, procured and delivered 56,650 non – food items for the migrants currently hosted in the reception and identification centers (RICs) of Lesvos, Samos, Chios, Leros, Kos and Evros (Fylakio).
The delivery of the items was completed by the end of January and was implemented by IOM aiming at supporting the Greek Government in responding to the harsh winter conditions in RICs.
Through this action, IOM actively contributed to the improvement of the challenging and at the same time worsening conditions migrants are facing in the RICs.
IOM delivered among others, 2,500 blankets, 5,000 bed sheets, 2,500 winter jackets, 2,500 shoes, 20,000 diapers και 500 baby hygiene kits.
The project was funded by the Internal Security Fund (ISF) of the European Union, directly managed by the European Commission’s Directorate General Migration and Home Affairs of the European Commission (DG HOME).
