Project period: January 2020 – December 2022

Objectives: Includ-EU aims to contribute to building more inclusive and cohesive European societies by enhancing transnational knowledge and experience sharing, cooperation and partnerships between local and regional authorities from Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Romania, Slovenia and Spain. The project will improve knowledge and capacities to facilitate the integration of third country nationals; implement and assess pilot projects that promote the integration of TCNs at regional and local level; set an informal network of regions and local authorities with different levels of expertise, that capitalizes on the diversity of territorial approaches, policy and practice on integration.

Activities:

  • Improving knowledge and capacity of local and regional authorities to facilitate the integration of third country nationals.

Local and regional integration practices will be mapped in target countries, and the findings will be consolidated in thematic briefings on good practices. Needs-based, demand driven training and capacity building support will be provided to regional and local authorities which will also take part in thematic study visits structured around integration practices identified through the mapping exercise.

  • Implementing and assessing pilot projects that promote the integration of third-country nationals at regional and local level.

Pilot integration actions responding to contextual priorities and needs, organizational structure, knowledge, capacity and resources will be implemented by local and regional authorities part of the project consortium. These pilots will concretely enhance TCNs’ integration in their respective contexts.

  • Fostering regional exchange on integration policy and practice between European regional and local authorities with different levels of expertise.

Through the organization of webinars and regional events, regional exchanges on integration policy and practice will be fostered.
