Strengthening the capacity of the Greek Social Integration Directorate (SID) for the implementation of nationwide policies and mechanisms for the integration of migrants in Greece.
Project start date: July 2021
Months of implementation: 12 months
Description: The project aims to support the Social Integration Directorate (SID) of the Ministry of Migration and Asylum (MoMA) of Greece in enhancing their capacity to oversee, coordinate, monitor and implement nationwide policies and mechanisms for the integration of migrants in Greece. In this context, the project will provide technical support for the implementation of integration activities, while taking into account the international best practices in the field.
In particular, the project aspires to deliver:
- A needs assessment report for SID’s officials to draft an Integrated Action Plan for Social Integration (IAPSI).
- The drafting of the Integrated Action Plan for Social Integration (IAPSI) a centrally coordinated and monitored nation-wide programme, spreading across several policy areas, encompassing activities envisaged in various pillars of the National Integration Strategy and seeking to foresee synergies amongst the projects, activities and services pertaining to integration and being implemented at local, regional and national level.
- The design of Information management (IM) tools to collect evidence on integration activities and migrants' profile at national, regional and local levels, and
- the provision of the necessary legal instruments for the operationalization of IAPSI's components.
The project is funded by The European Union through the Structural Reform Support Programme and implemented by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the European Commission (DG REFORM).
